Feeding a Balanced Diet
Mixed meat or vegetables, pasta, rice cereals, or other foods provide all the protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, and mineral necessary for a dogs good health.
Basic Diet - Meat and vegetables provide a dog with virtually all the ingredients it needs for a nutirtious, balanced diet.
Ground/hamburger meat - The high level of fat in ground meat is not as harmful to dogs as it is to humans, but is a major source of calories.
Chicken - Chicken and turkey are easily digested, and are lower in calories than other meats.
Fish - You should be careful to remove even the smallest bones before feeding fish to your dog.
Rice - Boiled rice is easily digested. Added to chicken, it makes a good diet.
Pasta - Pasta and noodles, good source of carbohydrates, are rather tasteless and often need added flavoring.
Liver - Liver, like other meats, has a high phosphrous but low calcium content. It is also rich in vitamins A and B1.
Raw vegetables and fruit - Uncooked vegetables and fruit, such as carrots, cabbage, and apple, are good sources of additional vitamins.
